Department: Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI)
Reports To: Assistant Transportation Manager – Traffic
Wage Range: $16.80 - $25.20
As a Freight Specialist, you will provide support to the Traffic Department in coordination with outside resources to improve profitability and service to our customers.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Communicate using email, unique company portals, and phone
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems to book and tender loads
- Data entry such as load information, lane rates, etc.
- Enter and update operating systems with accurate data
- Communicate with internal and external customers
- Maintains contact with contracted carriers or brokers and monitors carrier on time delivery
- Works on various projects as assigned to help monitor costs and improve service
- Apply lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the position.
- Maintain timely and professional communication with customer contacts on issues impacting service and overall performance
YOU MUST HAVE
- High School diploma, General Equivalency Degree, or relevant work experience
- Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with both internal and external customers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

- Experience working in both team and independent settings
- Effective organizational skills
- Skills to be successful in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
ROLE SPECIFICS
- Schedule: Full Time – Monday through Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
