Reports To: Assistant Transportation Manager
Salary Range: $51,333 to $77,000 annually, plus bonus opportunity
As Freight Sales Representative, you will be responsible for contracting and managing external partner’s product movement through maintaining and growing relationships with freight brokers and shippers.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Independently research and contract for profitable backhaul freight business that can be moved on DTI equipment.
- Identify opportunities for consistent freight needs and lead initiatives with internal partners to execute backhauling within those lanes.
- Lead initiatives to ensure our team is meeting or exceeding key performance indicators such as empty miles percent, revenue, and billing/aging.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to solicit feedback for process improvement.
- Maintain timely and professional communication with customer contacts on issues impacting service and overall performance.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelors degree or equivalent Dot Foods Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Aptitude for strong selling and negotiating skills
YOU MAY ALSO HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree emphasized in logistics, supply-chain management, sales, or transportation
- Knowledge of federal guidelines on carriers and inter/intrastate commerce
- Ability to elicit desired behavior change with internal and external customers and vendors
ROLE SPECIFICS
- Occasional travel per year. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train.
- On-call telephone availability will be required 6-7 weeks annually with opportunity for flextime during weeks on-call. Can be executed from anywhere with cellphone or internet availability.
