Salary Range: $68,324 - $102,487 annually, plus bonus opportunity
As an Assistant Transportation Manager in Traffic, you will help ensure Dot Transportation’s North American fleet operates efficiently cost-effectively through thoughtful planning and execution. You will lead a team, monitor performance, and support both custom haul and carrier network operations to drive service, profitability, and continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Manages and supports development of a team of freight sales representatives, coordinators, and specialists.
- Manages cost and profitability metrics to identify and address service gaps, performance issues, and inefficiencies across assigned regions or accounts.
- Analyze driver capacity and freight trends to optimize carrier and custom haul planning across all locations.
- Maintains the various DTI systems and reporting to ensure accurate flow of data.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with dispatch, warehouse, customer service, replenishment, and business development to ensure alignment.
- Supports Director of Freight Sales to lead team, providing analysis, request for proposals, and contracts
- Oversees the initial investigation process for carrier and custom haul claims to minimize risk to DTI.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent Dot Foods experience
- Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer skills, experience in using Microsoft Office programs/ applications
- Previous successful leadership experience
YOU MAY ALSO HAVE
- Prior transportation experience
- Ability to influence desired behavior change with internal/external customers and vendors
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in one-on-one and group settings
- Ability to function in a multi-tasked environment
ROLE SPECIFICS
- Supervision – Team of 6-7 freight sales representatives, coordinators, and specialists
- Schedule – Monday – Friday with on-call 6-7 weeks per year.
- Travel – Occasional overnight travel required (8-10 nights per year). Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train for training or meetings.
