Reports To: Transportation Manager - Safety
Wage Range: $16.19 to $23.06 per hour, plus bonus opportunity
As a Transportation Specialist, you will provide clerical and communication assistance to the Transportation Safety department to ensure Dot Transportation is a safe working environment for its employees and is D.O.T. compliant in safety. You will work in both team environment and on individual task and projects.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Communicate using email, unique company portals, and phone.
- Data entry such as entering new driver and equipment information, driver license and physical updates, etc.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems to input, edit and verify driver and company equipment compliance information.
- Coordinate with federal and state agencies on D.O.T. audits, driver testing and certifications.
- Communicate with internal and external customers.
- Work on various projects as assigned to help improve safety and monitor compliance.
- Apply lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the position.
YOU MUST HAVE
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Degree
- Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Proficient typing skills
- Strong sense of responsibility to protect sensitive and confidential information.
YOU MAY ALSO HAVE
- Willingness to learn new tasks quickly and thoroughly.
- Good communication and organization skills
- Previous Dept of Transportation compliance monitoring experience.
- Ability to interact well with employees in multiple work areas and locations.
- Strong motivation for personal learning
ROLE SPECIFICS
- Schedule: Full Time – Monday through Friday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Work weekend hours on rare occasions
- Occasional overnight travel (3-5 times per year) to company locations or to attend seminars and meetings to develop professional expertise. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction, by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train.
