One of the most common questions we get from potential applicants about working in the Dot Foods Mt. Sterling warehouse is “How does pay work in the Dot warehouse? How much money will I make?”
The answer to this question can be complex, so we’re going to break it down here the best we can. There are a lot of different ways you can earn money as a Mt. Sterling warehouse material handler.
This is the most obvious aspect of pay. Warehouse material handlers at our Mt. Sterling distribution center (DC) earn an hourly wage ranging from $17.20 to $23.35 depending on job type, tenure, shift and schedule type, and warehouse temperature.
That being said, on average, Mt. Sterling warehouse employees earn an average gross annual income of $50,000. Plus, full-time employees get access to over $22,000-worth of benefits.
Pay Differentials
If you work a night shift, weekend shift, or in the frozen warehouse, you will receive an hourly pay differential. What that means is Dot pays you more per hour than other warehouse employees because you are working a shift that can be seen as more difficult or less desirable.
The shift differentials in Mt. Sterling include:
-
Night Shift: $1.00
-
Weekend Shift: $1.40
-
Frozen Warehouse: $1.75
Voluntary Overtime
The warehouse is a 24/7 operation that requires all hands on deck. Oftentimes, you will find that your co-workers have shifts to trade or give up. Or, sometimes shifts will be short-staffed, so there will be opportunities to pick up overtime (OT) and earn even more.
Mandatory Overtime
Unfortunately, when we are going through a heavy volume season, we have to execute mandatory overtime. With mandatory OT, you’ll be working four to five days per week since your regular schedule will be either three 12-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts.
Hitting accuracy and productivity goals in the Dot warehouse can earn you extra cash. With each paycheck, there are performance-based pay opportunities available.
At Dot Foods, our team efforts are just as important as our individual ones. For that reason, Dot has a companywide service level bonus available to all Dot and Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI) employees, as well as a quarterly profit bonus for all warehouse employees. If you’re a full-time employee, hitting these goals and earning these bonuses can increase your income by over $1,000 per year!
Paid time off is something every full-time employee at Dot benefits from. We know that the most important things in your life happen when you’re not at work—and sometimes those things require taking time off.
After you’ve been working at Dot for six months, you will be eligible for 40 hours of vacation time. After one year, that increases to 80 hours.
Personal and sick time will be available for employees after 90 days of full-time employment. These amounts will be prorated based on your start date for the rest of the calendar year.
