Dot Foods California General Manager Dave Bigelow started at Dot 12 years ago working in the warehouse. From there he moved over to Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI) to be the Modesto transportation manager.
Fast forward to today and Dave has been the GM for Dot’s Modesto distribution center (DC) for over two and a half years.
“Dot Foods is a great place to work,” said Dave. “There’s always that drive to be creative, to think outside the box a little bit, and we’re given that autonomy to do that.”
Family Life & Work Life
At Dot, having a good balance between work and personal life is important. It’s so important that we made “Family-oriented” one of our company values.
“The way Dot’s impacted my family has allowed me to have a really good work-life balance, to be able to spend time with my family, and do the things I enjoy doing,” explained Dave.
“I like to go camping, go hiking with my family. It’s always nice to be able to go somewhere where you don’t have cell service.”
Sometimes drawing the line between work and home life can be challenging. But Dot’s culture helps make it that much easier.
“My wife sometimes says I need to take my manager hat off when I get home at the end of the day,” said Dave.
“But, on a serious note, it’s kind of a seamless transition—taking care of family, focusing on what’s important. Those two things blend really well with this company and my family.”
